J & M Advocates maintains a comprehensive confidentiality policy in line with our professional duties and our core value of integrity. We are committed to providing clients with a fully confidential and trusted legal service.
We will decline to act in any matter where our interests, or those of an existing client, conflict with the interests of a prospective client. This ensures that we always act in the genuine best interests of those we represent.
Our firm discloses all information material to a client’s case unless a lower duty of disclosure is expressly agreed. Where confidential information exists relating to a current or former client, we will not act, as doing so would breach our duty of disclosure.
Billing
Our firm offers flexible and transparent billing arrangements tailored to the nature of each matter and the specific needs of our clients.
Time & Percentage Billing
We charge hourly rates for time genuinely spent on litigation and consultancy matters.
Conveyancing and lease-related services are calculated on a sliding scale, capped at 10% of the transaction value, ensuring proportional and fair pricing.
This model provides scalable fees while maintaining the highest standards of legal service.
Value (Flat Fee) Billing
Under this model, we enter into a Contentious or Non-Contentious Business Agreement, where a fixed fee is paid for a defined range of legal services.
This arrangement offers cost certainty and positions the firm as a client’s dedicated legal advisor or in-house counsel.
Disbursements are billed separately with full transparency. Flat fees are preferably paid upfront, though quarterly or half-yearly plans may be agreed.
Hybrid Billing Model
Our Hybrid Billing Model combines value billing, time-based billing, and sliding-scale fees depending on the complexity and scope of the matter.
This flexible approach ensures transparency while delivering maximum value across diverse legal services.
